It’s Here!!! August 12, 2008

I used to think I wasn’t a big fan of change!  But I sure am excited about this one! 

Today I am starting my Graduate Accounting Certification through the University of Phoenix. (Yes, I’m one of the few that actually enjoys school.)
Gerardo’s med school orientation is this week with class starting on Monday.  (We are both just so happy about his beginning medical school and what lies ahead with all of that! I’m so proud of him!)
Sounds like I might get to start teaching at the University of Phoenix campus in OKC.  (Hopefully a starting point to my ultimate career dream – teaching.)
Starting some new involvement in a community program with Boeing. (My position uses my mind but this is more in-line with my heart.)
My new job is no long feeling as ‘new’.  (Really enjoying it . . . whole package is a gift from God.)
We’re gonna get back into serving regularly at our LifeChurch.tv campus.  (Able to actually experience my church as my church now.)
I’m on a new health kick that is just that – focused on health instead of the stupid scale. (Don’t worry – be healthy!)
Getting more regularly with spending time with the girlfriends.  (That’s just good for the soul.)

I guess when it comes down to it, I am enjoying all this change because I know it is all completely from Him and fills me with peace and joy!  God is good!

What The?! Hell?! August 10, 2008

Got your attention?

Do you believe in hell?  Do you live like you believe in hell?

This weekend’s message at LifeChurch.tv was pretty stirring.  We’re doing a series called So You’re Dead . . . Now What?  This week’s topic was hell.  Good, good stuff!

I’d definitely recommend watching the message online Tuesday night at 8:00 or when it becomes available on Wednesday (just go to www.lifechurch.tv).  But I wanted to share some points that really got me.

Do you really believe in hell?  Like everlasting torment? Isolation? Burning?  (the scripture is pretty blunt)

Do you know who Jesus was talking to every time he discussed hell?
The religious people.  Not the prostitutes or beggars or criminals.  But the ‘righteous’.  They’ve got lots of head knowledge, but He was concerned about their hearts.  (Sounds a bit too relevant for today.)

If you believe in hell, do you live like it?  Do you share your faith like it?  Ugh, gut check for me!

There is nothing in scripture that talks about being comfortable.  I would much rather be filled with the Consuming Fire here on earth filled with joy rather than tormenting fire in eternity.

Well, I honestly don’t have anything post-worthy right now.  I think my mind still wishes it was in Crested Butte.  My body hasn’t been feeling well.  And other people/things have my focus. But I wanted to say ‘hi’!

This Season’s Mottos July 24, 2008

Change what you can and be flexible with the rest
I am aware of my roles and responsibilities and the personal choices I can make throughout the day to be happy and healthy.  But there are and will be lots of things that will require flexibility.

Some things you can’t control, but you can choose how you’ll respond.
I’m learning what affects my mood, attitudes, and productivity.  I also realize there are many things that require me to just go with the flow.  But I can control the things that make the biggest impact on my response.

Enjoy the blessings and His grace and goodness!
Gerardo and I know medical school will have a large impact on our lives, our finances, our time, and our marriage.  But what excites me is knowing God desires for it to be a wonderfully positive one full of blessings!

Did you know God’s timing is perfect!?!?

I pray you all know deep down how true that statement is, but I also love how we find such amazement, joy, and peace each time we get to experience it!

Gerardo’s whole medical school process has such been a testament to this!  Despite the stress, uncertainty, hesitation, questioning, planning, etc., that went into the six month process, not to mention the few years leading up to this point, the revealing of God’s perfect plan couldn’t have been better!  We are truly blessed!!!  God is good!

So I was doing so good on the sweets strike!  And was enjoying how much better I felt without all the unneccessary sugar in my system!  But these past few days I’ve given in to the pressure . . . but I’m back on it full force July 11!  How is it going for the rest of ya’ll???
